SHANE THOMAS – Managing Director

Shane brings over 30 years industry knowledge to SAF and its customer base from a range of commercial and risk leadership roles. He has strategy, sales management, risk and operational experience at all institutional levels.

Prior to SAF he ran RBS and Lombard Specialist Asset Finance with dedicated businesses across the marine, rail, aviation and transportation sectors. In addition he also led dedicated leasing, data centre, receivables and green energy finance businesses.

Shane has deep sector experience across the Asset Finance spectrum, coupled with extensive product knowledge and a good mix of commercial and risk skills. He is very customer focused and has an extensive list of blue-chip major banks and lenders who have employed his skill set in recent years whilst working for SAF.

Shane is also a shareholder and board member of a property investment company and has also held the position of Associate Partner at WG&S (now BNP Paribas Real Estate).

He is a Chartered Surveyor, a graduate engineer from the University of Bath and member of the Institute of Chartered Bankers.

Shane is married with two children and in his spare time is a Guildford Colts rugby coach.


KEVIN GREEN - Finance Director

Since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1991 Kevin has worked within the business services sector as adviser, finance director, CEO and investor.

Kevin’s SAF role now includes strategy development and implementation, along with the oversight and control of the company’s finances.

Prior to joining SAF as co-founder in 2017, Kevin spent 12 years working in M&A advisory at Ernst & Young, PWC and within wider industry. In 2000 he was recruited by a media industry client as finance director and became CEO in 2003. In 2004 he and another director acquired the business outright in an MBO. The company ran successfully for a further 10 years before Kevin exited via a secondary buyout in 2015.

Since 2015 Kevin has invested in a range of businesses including an engineering turnaround and residential and commercial property investment.

As well as being a Chartered Accountant Kevin holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Bath.


DAN BAKER – Automotive stocking finance specialist

Dan is an automotive finance specialist with 18 years of experience across operational, risk and business development roles.

He has worked extensively in both the SME and Large Corporate space manging finance portfolios of over £300m exposure and prior to joining SAF in 2018 he worked for GMAC UK.

Dan has provided facilities and managed numerous Large Corporate relationships for many manufacturers including Saab, Chevrolet, Ssangyong, MG, Cadillac, Hummer and Daewoo.

Dan has an intimate working of the stocking finance sector and manages many of SAF’s relationships between finance providers, the used dealer network and manufacturers, amongst other external partners. He also has a good depth of knowledge across the general asset finance market.

Dan lives in Cardiff, is married with a young son, enjoys keeping active and is an avid racing fan.


TIM CHATTERTON – OPERATIONS AND FINANCE SPECIALIST

Tim has over 32 years’ experience in major banking institutions in front line, operational and risk roles and was formerly Head of Lombard’s offshore entities and Director of Risk for Lombard’s Specialist Asset Finance businesses.

Tim has held numerous senior roles for RBS including leading the sale of Lombard’s offshore portfolios as part of the group’s ICB compliance strategy.

Tim manages operational matters for SAF, whilst also running his own stocking finance portfolio and taking the lead on many of SAF’s general asset finance transactions.

Tim has a BA (Hons) Economics & Public Policy from Leeds Metropolitan University, is married with two children and lives in the East Grinstead area.


JAMES STATHAM – STOCK FINANCE RELATIONSHIP MANAGER

James has 2 decades of Automotive Industry finance experience from a diverse range of roles across stock finance funders,  dealership sales and programme management for large manufacturer franchises.

Prior to joining SAF, James spent 8 years at Cox Automotive/NextGear Capital, where he excelled in providing stock funding solutions to both Independent and Franchise Dealers.

James is currently located in the Midlands area.  He is a former Professional Golfer and still maintains a keen interest in the game.   He is an active person who is regularly found in the local gym and also has a passion for music.


KIERAN BURR – STOCK FINANCE RELATIONSHIP MANAGER

Kieran has an impressive mix of Accountancy and Automotive Industry experience, being AAT qualified and previously having worked as a sales executive for Inchcape BMW.

Kieran has a passion for cars and understands the challenges motor dealers face in obtaining finance solutions for their specific business needs.  Kieran has a blend of skills that enables him to tailor solutions to meet the unique requirements for each of his customers.

He lives in Surrey, is a keen cyclist and enjoys clay pigeon shooting.


MATT JENNINGS – CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIALS HANDLING EQUIPMENT FINANCE

Matt has over 23 years of industry experience working within the construction, recycling, material handling, ports and mining industries and brings a wealth of experience to SAF.  He has led regional teams for Liebherr GB and managed national strategic accounts for Finning UK and Case Construction.  

Having held a number of senior positions for OEMs and dealers, Matt is SAF’s Construction Sector specialist where he uses his extensive industry knowledge to help customers with their funding needs.

Matt lives near Solihull with his wife and two children. He loves rugby, skiing and shooting. He is also a keen amateur carpenter in his spare time.


SEAN DENMAN - STOCK FINANCE RELATIONSHIP MANAGER

Sean is an automotive industry veteran through and through with 33 years of hands-on motor trade experience.

Sean has been a business owner, car dealer and previously held roles across Hyundai, Honda, Suzuki and Renault. Sean has a wealth of business management experience setting growth and market strategies for his customers.

In the 5 years prior to joining SAF Sean worked for Cox Automotive/NextGear Capital, providing stock funding solutions to his franchise and independent dealer network.

Sean is a keen sportsman having represented Great Britain at roller hockey and still playing field hockey now in his fifties.

He is married with 2 children and lives in the New Forest area.


ANDY REID – TECHNOLOGY FINANCE SPECIALIST

Andy is an IT asset finance professional with over 20 years of experience in sales leadership and relationship management. He has managed direct customer and vendor finance relationships in both the Large Corporate and SME environments and prior to joining SAF, led Lombard’s Large Corporate Technology Funding Team for over 10-years.

In addition Andy has a broader general asset finance skill set and is now also supporting SAF’s business growth in stocking finance.


RICHARD TILDEN – RELATIONSHIP MANAGER

Richard has over 30 years’ asset finance and vehicle rental experience across tier 1 banks and market leading independent corporates where he has held board positions in risk and sales roles.

Prior to SAF, Richard had a successful Large Corporate career with Lombard/RBS and worked Lex Autolease where he was Head of Commercial Vehicles. He has also been Sales Director of one of the UK’s largest independent commercial vehicle rental companies.

He has transacted Large Corporate and SME transactions in most asset finance sectors including stock finance, back-to-back lending and structured green energy deals.

Richard lives near Gloucester, is married with two children who have fled the nest is a keen dinghy sailor and amateur chef.


ROB URE – STOCK FINANCE RELATIONSHIP MANAGER

Rob has over 20 years asset finance experience across a number of tier 1 lenders including Bank of Scotland, Barclays and NextGear Capital.

Rob has an extensive dealer network and is responsible for stocking finance in the North of England and Scotland for SAF.

He is a keen sportsman, ex professional footballer and low handicap golfer.


GLENN SALMON – ASSET MANAGER

Glenn has over 30 years Asset Finance experience in commercial, asset management and operational roles across a range of tier 1 lenders having worked for Lombard, RBS and Santander.

Glenn has been an Asset Management specialist for over 15 years managing valuations, residual value setting and asset disposals which where he spends most of his time for SAF and our customers.

Glenn is a keen sportsman and golfer. He is married with a daughter and lives in South East London.


Philip Tubb – Structured Finance

Philip is a specialist in the structuring, negotiation, documentation and execution of large ticket asset financings, holding 30 years structured asset finance experience across tier 1 banking institutions.

Philip’s asset finance experience spans the full range of asset types including all types of industrial plant, infrastructure (including power stations and water/sewage processing), transportation (including air, rail, marine, road), IT and real estate. Marine extends from inshore commercial craft up to FPSO’s and deep draft ocean-going vessels.

In addition, Philip has extensive experience of cross border transaction structures and Sharia compliant finance.

Philip is also the co-proprietor of a farming and diversified land business and holds a BSc in Banking & Finance.  He is married with two children and is an active outdoorsman.


Josh McMullan – Marketing Analyst

Josh is a third year BSc Business student at the University of Bath who is currently on placement at SAF.

Josh has previously worked in the insurance and sports journalism industries and has a passion for marketing from his studies.

His SAF role includes the planning and implementation of marketing campaigns, database management and portfolio management administration.

Josh is an avid football fan, enjoys playing tennis and darts and lives in Surrey.
